Premiering with 3 screenings at the upcoming 2002 SF Jewish Film Festival, this 30 minute documentary shot at the Jewish Home San Francisco features dynamic California Arts Council Artist-In-Residence Judith-Kate Friedman who started a songwriting program at the Home, enabling residents to sing their stories and to create a legacy of songs about their lives. Midway through the project, the tragic events of September 11 occurred. The film captures the effects of the tragedy on the project participants and the healing, life affirming spirit that comes from blending art with community. A ‘Specially Wonderful Affair is an uplifting, bittersweet meditation on the reality of aging and the joy of staying young at heart.

The San Francisco Demons were a team of ambitious, hard working people fighting for success against insurmountable odds. An undeserving victim of the league’s tragically flawed national marketing campaign, San Francisco’s XFL franchise, led by GM Mike Preacher and Head Coach Jim Skipper, withstood the media slaughter and completed their inaugural season rich in idealism, professionalism, leadership and of course…football. Friedkin Digital was granted all access to the team during the 2nd half of the season. Everywhere the Demons went, we were there. Practices, locker rooms, chartered jets, team buses, four star hotels, Pac Bell Park, LA, Orlando, Vince McMahon, Governor Ventura…it was a wild ride right down to the very end. Professional sports has never been documented so honestly. Universal themes of redemption, sacrifice and challenge ran deep throughout the season as players and coaches found themselves with a precious opportunity to play the game they loved. Shot Down in Flames is in post production.
